An Update from the Ingham County Land Bank

Just over a few days until the Treasurer’s Tax Auction on July 25 at the Lansing Center. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the auction will begin at 10 a.m. sharp. Preview available properties by pre-registering at http://www.bippususa.com/.

A one on one Financial Literacy counseling program run by Capital Area Community Services (CACS) is producing great results for my office.  Severely delinquent property tax payers have been helped with budgeting, credit score improvements and other support services.  I am especially impressed with the Home Equity Lines of Credit that have some individuals replace the higher cost tax delinquency to the County.  Hats off to our partner at CASE Credit Union.

Mapping staff has helped me put together a great City of Lansing map with the historic tax foreclosures and Land Bank sales and inventory.  If you, or a group you are part of, would like to take a look at this map I’d love to schedule a time to share the information.  Of note, late in 2016 the Land Bank sold its 500th property.

If someone you know would benefit from Financial Literacy to resolve tax delinquency please let me know.  And as always, general questions about Treasury or County Government are welcome.
